Kim Schoffstall, Volunteer Coordinator Kim Schoffstall is a singer/songwriter living and working in the Piedmont area of Virginia about an hour outside of Washington, D.C. She lives "way out in the country" with her husband Brad and her three daughters. She pulls her inspiration from a long time love of the sound of an acoustic guitar and lots of full harmonies and lyrics based in the folk tradition. She attributes these influences to having great music around the house while growing up while her older sisters were listening to James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt. With the basic philosophy that life is hard, but God is good, Kim continues to write from her own experiences and the world around her. Her songs stem from the desire to express hope and imprint into a song the visions in her heart. She enjoys writing songs for worship and congregational singing as well. Kim has the good fortune of being a long-time member of an extremely supportive musical church where she plays in the Praise Band weekly. She has recently graduated from Mary Washington College with a degree in Music Studies. Kim is teaching part-time at Wakefield School in The Plains, Va., and has taken on some private students as well for guitar. When time in her schedule allows, she loves to play some of her own music and her favorite covers at coffeehouses. She is currently serving on the board of Songwriter's Association of Washington and Circle of Faith Songwriter's Guild both based in and around the Northern Virginia area.
