Songwriter’s Toolbox, hosted by Karl Straub
4th Saturday of each month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Surge, located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA, 22101.

This month's "theme" is

"Syncopation for Songwriters--
Using rhythm to make better melodies"

Come to the Songwriter’s Toolbox on the 4th Saturday morning (10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) of each month and learn more about songwriting! Attendance is FREE, although we will pass a “tip jar” around to honor our guest artist for coming. Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend.

The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. If you’ve attended past SAW Community Days, you’ll recognize it. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left.

There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.

Hope to see you there.

What it is and how to get there…

The SAW Songwriter’s Toolbox is a monthly songwriting workshop series focusing on the creative aspects of songwriting. While many workshops focus on the business of songwriting, publishing or “how to write a hit song,” the Songwriter’s Toolbox examines the craft of lyric writing, jump-starting creativity and breaking down the process of writing and composing engaging songs. The Songwriter’s Toolbox has something for budding writers as well as experienced writers.

SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance. If you know people who would like to join us, please bring them along or forward this to them.  Everyone is invited!

Songwriters' Association of Washington is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
