Songwriter’s Toolbox: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Surge, located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA, 22101.

This month's Toolbox is hosted by Mike Ryan.

Mike P. Ryan is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Central Oklahoma who currently lives with his wife and son in Northern Virginia.  Mike performs in a number of venues and festivals throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and all points in between. Mike's songs explore the lives, experiences, and emotions of everyday people.  Mike has been playing guitar for over 30 years and has performed virtually every kind of music imaginable.  A gifted lyricist and a talented musician Mike is an award-winning songwriter who carries on the classic American singer-songwriter tradition of storytelling through music. Mike's songs have been described as "captivating portraits of real people set against a canvas of beautiful music."  Mike is the founder of the Northern Virginia Singer-Songwriter Group which has grown to over 90 members.  He is also the Artist in Residence at the Virginia Musician's workshop. Mike is a volunteer musician for Musicians On Call, which brings music to the bedsides of seriously ill patients confined to hospitals.

The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left. There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.

 
SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance.
