Saturday Open Mic in Alexandria (Second Saturday of the month,
7:30pm-10:45pm)
Jim Johnson
and Rob Veale have volunteered to be the principal host/coordinators
for this open mic series. Jim and Rob welcome additional coordinators
to the team. If you are interested, please contact them.
Sign-ups to play (first come-first served) begin at 7:00pm, with the music starting at 7:30pm. Each performer is allotted two songs, with originals encouraged. There will be an extra round of songs as time permits--we try to vacate the room by 11:00pm.
There is a snack bar available with snacks and drinks for $1. This is a family friendly venue, so alcohol is not permitted.

The Lab at Convergence's address is 1819 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria
VA, at the intersection with Crestwood Drive. The Lab is a brick
building facing Crestwood. It has no address on it, but 1781 Crestwood

Take the Shirlington exit off of I-395 and follow the signs to Quaker
Lane, then take the second left on Crestwood Drive. The Lab at Convergence
is the first building on the left.

This Open Mic/ Music Showcase is open to all music
styles, all levels of performers, and is organized with a sign up
sheet the night of performance. Open Mic/ Music Showcase is affiliated
with SAW and DC Blues Society. Some nights there will be a featured
performer, if you are interested in being a featured performer please
email booking@sol-roots.com
Martini's Unplugged Open Mic Tuesdays

Open-Mic Format: Signups begin at 7:00pm, show starts

"Unplugged" All acoustic, acoustic/electric
venue; with jam play encouraged between musicians.
Originals are encouraged but you are not restricted
to originals only; covers are allowed. Extra round of songs as time
and lineup permits.
Martini's Lounge has a small stage and a house PA
system with stage monitors and sound board.

Sign-up time: Sign up will start at 3:30. There
is no advance sign up option.
Cost: There is no cost to the attend this jam but
we HIGHLY encourage you to spend money at the venue. They have a
variety of food and drink. We also encourage you to bring friends/fans
who will also dine at the venue and will attend for the majority
of the afternoon, not just your segment. We encourage you to bring
business cards/CD's to give away or sell.

Criteria: All levels, singers, songwriters, musicians.
There is a host band as back-up if needed. Each performer (unless
playing together with other jammers) will get a total of 15 minutes

Sounds of Hope at Potter's House
(Last Friday of the month, 7:00pm-10:00pm)
Sounds of Hope is a benefit concert that takes place every Friday
Night (7:00 - 10:30 p.m.) at The Potter’s House in Washington,
DC . The Potter's House is a non-profit, smoke free, alcohol free,
family friendly restaurant, bookstore, church and art gallery operating
since 1960. Since 2002, the Sounds of Hope concert series has partnered
with a variety of performers, helping to raise money and awareness
for hundreds of charities from education to AIDS health awareness
to homeless service centers. Mary Shapiro,a performer, songwriter,
teacher, and ambassador for peace is the founder and driving force

The Potter's House is a bookstore, gallery and restaurant established
in 1960 by a creative, social justice oriented church. All ages,
races, creeds, sexes and orientations are always welcome. For more

Currently, Sounds of Hope is seeking local and touring artists interested
in performing for a good cause. Sounds of Hope is interested in
all genres but artists should keep in mind that the concert series
is family friendly and therefore submissions with inappropriate
themes or profanity will not be considered. Submissions are accepted
through Sonicbids.Please let them know that you are a SAW member
(they will treat you very nicely!)
Opening acts are compensated through their own merchandise
sales. Headliners who wish to perform for a good cause and earn
additional compensation will need to team up with a charity and
another local artist who, along with the house, will split the profits
with them.
Every FINAL Friday of the month Mary Shapiro hosts
a safe and supportive OPEN MIC at Potter's House (unless bumped
by a holiday...always check the official Web site: www.myspace.com/soundsofhope
for the latest calendar). Music plus Poetry for all ages and stages.
Free for appreciative ears.Sign up in person at 7 PM for 7 minutes
to share. We often go around twice, and encourage collaborations
in the second set.

What: An open mic event open to all musicians and
performers, be they solo, duo, band, spoken word, comedy or performance
art. This venue has a stage with full band setup including drums,
bass, guitar, keys, pa. There will be a sound man at the shows.
Artists are welcome to bring their own bass or guitars to plug in,
but we will use the setup drums, mics, keyboards, etc. to move things
along.
