Songwriter's Toolbox Session

  • 03/26/2016
  • 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
  • 1988 Kirby Rd, McLean, VA 22101

Songwriter’s Toolbox: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Surge, located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA, 22101.

This month's Toolbox is hosted by Paige Powell.

Paige serves on the Board of Directors of the Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW) and hosts two SAW-sponsored open mics each month in the D.C. area. Paige has a real passion for songwriting, having written more than 150 songs, recording more than 60 of them, generating 2 CDs and 29 singles released on iTunes and CDBaby.com.

Two of her songs, "Blackeyed Peas" and “Give Me A Beach” won honorable mentions from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.

Paige writes a wide variety of songs which keep her fans entertained including comedy and sing-along songs. She also uses jazz chords from alternate guitar tunings for her jazz and blues songs. Her lyrics tend to be more specific than vaguely poetic. Paige also writes instrumental smooth jazz songs with strong melodies (see WolfeandPowell.com).

For our Songwriter’s Toolbox meeting, Paige plans to reveal her songwriting methods, share studio recording tips, offer Bob Baker music marketing ideas, and “show and tell” about alternate guitar tunings. To get an idea of her style, visit paigepowellmusic.com.

The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. If you’ve attended past SAW Community Days, you’ll recognize it. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left.

There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.

Hope to see you there. Please contact Paige Powell a
paige@paigepowellmusic.com with questions.

SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance. If you know people who would like to join us, please bring them along or forward this to them.  Everyone is invited!
