October 22 Songwriters' Toolbox: “Chord Grammar” and Song Circle with Matt Holsen
Learn about the music theory you know - but were never taught - and how it can open up the doors to constructing better sounding and more confidently structured songs in any genre. Accessible to novice songwriters and still informative to more experienced writers. (This Toolbox is a streamlined version of the popular and informative “Chord Grammar” workshop presented at this year’s Community Day) The toolbox will include a song circle so bring your song in any form or shape and try to bring copies of your lyrics to hand out...it helps first time listeners be more constructive if they can follow along.
The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left. There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.
SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance.
