Songwriter's Toolbox Session (4th Saturday)

  • 09/24/2016
  • 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
  • 1988 Kirby Rd, McLean, VA 22101
Songwriter’s Toolbox: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Surge, located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA, 22101.

September Toolbox: "Mind on the Message" with John Trupp.

Every successful song has a clear message, whether it's a simple feeling or a complicated truth. Finding and focusing on your song's "message" can help you write better, more effective songs.

John Trupp is a producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a clear eye on how to write memorable songs.  He toured for years in the popular "New Potato Caboose." He is currently a member of a few locally successful bands, Soul Gravity and the Hayley Fahey Band.

The toolbox will include a song circle so bring your song in any form or shape and try to bring copies of your lyrics to hand out...it helps first time listeners be more constructive if they can follow along.

The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left. There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.

SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance.

Songwriters' Association of Washington is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
