Songwriter's Toolbox Session (4th Saturday)

  • 07/23/2016
  • 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
  • 1988 Kirby Rd, McLean, VA 22101
Songwriter’s Toolbox: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Surge, located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA, 22101.

This month's topic is "Write Song, Wrong Song" and is hosted by Jay Keating. Strategies for when you are stuck. Participants are encouraged to bring printout copies of their lyrics for the song circle portion of the program.

Jay Keating is a SAW board member and singer-songwriter who is active in supporting the local music scene. As a successful writer and producer of commercials and multimedia (ever hear those wacky Don Beyer Volvo commercials over the years? That’s him writing and voicing) and a former touring stand-up comedian and singer-songwriter, Jay brings a unique and practical perspective to aspiring songwriters.

The Surge is located at 1988 Kirby Rd., McLean, VA 22101 near the intersection of Kirby and Westmoreland in McLean. You can find us in one of the large classrooms down the hall on the left. There’s a yoga class going on in the main congregation room so please be respectful of those folks.

SAW and the Songwriter’s Toolbox are unaffiliated with Surge or any religious group. The ambiance is secular, and the room is designed for performance.

Songwriters' Association of Washington is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
