If so, check out this 7-minute video based on a Christmas song I wrote last year, and recently turned into a children’s book… and if you like it, please consider picking up a copy or two…or 10 :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alv2LtMkS5g&t=5s
OK, that concludes the shameless self-promotion part of this post. Now to the offer: If you’ve ever considered writing a children’s book, particularly if you’ve written any kid-friendly or kid-themed songs, I’d encourage you to do so. The process was really interesting and quite a lot of fun. I found an amazing illustrator on Fiverr who based the characters in the story on family photos I sent her. As a result, what started out as simply a marketing effort to try to find an audience for some of my music turned into much more a labor of love. I also learned a lot about the process… finding an affordable illustrator… managing the project along the way… indie publishing through Amazon KDP (like Tunecore or Distrokid, but for books)… formatting your submission for publication, etc. I also learned a good bit about creating promotional videos or “book trailers.” I used a fantastic, fairly cheap, and very intuitive video editor called Filmora 9, which I’ve been super happy with. Anyhow, if you’re thinking about trying something similar (kids’ book or some basic video editing), and would like to talk to someone who’s done it, shoot me a note at thisislifesong@gmail.com. The book's available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0578792621?pf_rd_r=VT4JSGAZTCKEEJ3MD6AX&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee and there's merch & more at www.littlepinkkittychristmas.com. And most of all, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
